Pushing hard and fast on the centre of the chest can help someone whose heart has stopped.
What we found
If a person is not breathing normally and their heart may have stopped, call for help and push hard and fast on the middle of their chest until help arrives.
Why we gave this result
St John Ambulance describes pressing on the middle of the chest and giving continuous chest compressions if you cannot give breaths. The American Heart Association says to call emergency services and push hard and fast, and that hands-only CPR can be as effective as conventional CPR.
Keep in mind: Training helps. Follow the emergency operator's instructions.
