About the project

An educational fact-checking prototype built for the HCL Jigsaw Edition 7, Round 2 student project.

Why we built it

Health messages spread fast on phones and social media. Some are helpful. Some are wrong or misleading. We wanted a simple place where students, families and teachers can check a claim and learn where to find reliable information.

How a claim gets into the database

  1. Collected. A claim is added as a research candidate. It starts as pending with the result UNVERIFIED.
  2. Reviewed. A team member reads reliable sources and writes a simple explanation.
  3. Approved. Only then can the claim give a TRUE or FALSE result. Every approved claim needs at least one reliable source.

Pending claims are never shown as results. If we are not sure, we say UNVERIFIED.

What this tool cannot do

  • It cannot diagnose illness or tell you what treatment to use.
  • It cannot check every claim. Our database is small.
  • It does not use AI. It matches your words to reviewed entries.

Always ask a doctor about your own health.

The database right now
